The Start: Fast Track Up
My career in search engine optimization began at one of Germany's leading SEO agencies. I was motivated, eager to learn, and put in the work. That didn't go unnoticed: within a short time, I was promoted to team lead and became responsible for a growing portfolio of client projects.
In that role, I gained insights that remained hidden from most employees — into strategies, processes, and above all, the reality behind the scenes.
The Disillusionment: Appearance vs. Reality
What I saw gave me pause. The agency's business model was based on a simple principle: lock clients into long contracts and generate high monthly revenue. So far, so typical. But what lay behind it was less impressive:
Employees managing too many projects at once — quality fell by the wayside.
