What Is a Bridge Page?
For products or services that require explanation, a bridge page can significantly improve Google Ads performance: it “warms up” users and sets expectations correctly before they reach the actual purchase page. This lowers the bounce rate and increases the conversion rate because qualified users arrive at the landing page. Google doesn’t penalize bridge pages as long as they provide real content.
A Bridge Page is an intermediate page that routes users from an ad (usually Google Ads) to the actual destination page. Unlike a Doorway Page (which is optimized only for search engines), a bridge page is a legitimate tool: it’s placed between an ad and the destination page to optimally prepare or qualify users. A bridge page could be a Landing Page template that informs users about an offer before redirecting them to the purchase page. This is particularly valuable for reducing bounce rates and increasing conversions.
Technically, a bridge page is a regular HTML page with its own content — not just an automatic redirect. You can link to a bridge page from a Google Ads ad; users land there, read some information, and then click an internal link to the actual destination page. The advantage is that on the bridge page you can manage user expectations and “warm them up” before they reach the purchase page. Google doesn’t view bridge pages negatively as long as they provide real content — they’re not spam.
In practice, you can use bridge pages to improve your Google Ads campaigns: create a bridge page that responds to the ad and presents the key information the user should see. Use persuasive design to move users toward the next action (clicking to the destination page). Bridge pages can also help with SEO if you use them as additional landing pages for specific keywords — the key is that they provide real value and don’t just function as a redirect.
