What Are fullLeftContext and fullRightContext?
fullLeftContext and fullRightContext are internal Google signals that analyze the text immediately before and after a link. Google does not limit its link evaluation to anchor text alone — it includes the surrounding context. The text to the left of a link (fullLeftContext) and to the right (fullRightContext) provides additional semantic information about the meaning and relevance of the linked document.
This principle has practical implications for content creation. A link with the anchor text “click here” is less informative for Google than a link embedded in an informative sentence. If you write, for example: “A comprehensive guide to technical search engine optimization can be found in our SEO audit guide,” Google receives valuable information about the destination page from the entire sentence context.
For your internal linking and link building, this means: place links in topically relevant paragraphs and formulate the surrounding sentences so they describe the content of the destination page. Avoid isolated link lists without context. Also ensure that no anchor mismatch occurs — the surrounding text should match the link target.
