Beginner errors like missing or incorrectly configured hreflang tags lead to indexing problems and duplicate content penalties. Content should be culturally and linguistically adapted locally — machine translations are often insufficient. Keywords also differ depending on language and culture. Larger websites with multiple countries need a well-thought-out governance structure to ensure that all versions are properly maintained and linked.
